Tourvo ehf., reg. no. 700125-2030, Iceland, is responsible for your personal data. We collect only what we need to rent you gear, and we don't sell it.
What we collect and why
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone | When you book | To confirm your booking and reach you about the handover |
| Hotel or address, notes (e.g. arrival time) | When you choose delivery or collection | To deliver and collect the gear |
| What you rented, dates, amount paid | When you book | To provide the rental, handle refunds and keep accounts |
| Name, email, message | When you use the contact form | To answer you |
Payment is handled by Teya on their secure page. We receive only confirmation that you paid and a masked card number; we never see your full card details.
The legal basis is our contract with you (bookings), our legal duty to keep accounts, and our legitimate interest in answering questions you send us.
Who we share it with
We use these service providers, who handle data only on our behalf:
- Google Cloud and Firebase host the website and store bookings, in data centres in the EU (Belgium and the Netherlands).
- Teya processes card payments.
- Google Workspace sends and receives our email.
- Google Maps suggests hotels and addresses while you type one at checkout; what you type is sent to Google for this.
- Google Analytics and the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram), only if you accept cookies: see below.
We share data with others only when the law requires it.
Cookies and storage in your browser
The site stores a few things in your browser so it works: your cart, your chosen language and currency, your cookie choice, and the details you've typed at checkout (until you close the tab). This data stays on your device.
To count visitors, each page tells our server which page is open and how many items are in the cart. The server recognises a visitor for one day only, by a code made from the IP address and browser that changes every day; the IP address itself isn't stored, and no cookie is used. This counting doesn't depend on your cookie choice. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used.
If you click Accept on the cookie banner, we also use Google Analytics (to count visitors and see which pages they view) and the Meta pixel (to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads). They set cookies and send Google and Meta which pages you view, your device and approximate location, and, when you book, the booking number, the items and the amount. Never your name, email or card details. Google and Meta may process this outside the EEA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent.
If you click Decline, nothing is loaded and no such cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
How long we keep it
Booking and payment records are kept for 7 years, as Icelandic bookkeeping law requires. Contact form messages are deleted when they're no longer needed to answer you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, get a copy, or have it deleted (except what we must keep for accounting). Email tourvo@tourvo.is. If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to Persónuvernd, the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (personuvernd.is).
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change; the date at the top shows the latest version.
